PALMER'S PERSPECTIVE
The Art of Storytelling
By Jim Palmer

A Fresh Look at Almost Everything
Welcome to Palmer's Perspective. I'm Jim Palmer and I'm happy you're here. There's a lot going on today, and sometimes you need a fresh perspective. I'll try to do that, openly, accurately and honestly. I've spent most of my time in Marketing, on ice rinks, on the golf course, in spectacular places around the world, and of course recently finishing my first novel (scroll to the next page for more on that). I hope these things allow me to look at life with an open mind and an insightful point of view, and I'm honored to share it with you. Thanks for joining me.

THE OBVIOUS FIRST QUESTION: WHY?
A number of years ago, I had the opportunity to begin writing a blog for Milwaukee Magazine. It helped that I was living in Milwaukee. But I digress. My first blog had a brief introduction, after which I proceeded to blast our local cable company (surprising how things never change). A dear friend commented that I might have discussed the real reason I started writing the blog in the first place. My Dad. He was my inspiration. Bob Palmer was an award winning journalist, in New Jersey of all places (yep, that's where I'm from) and he always wanted me to write more. Sure I wrote marketing briefs in my job at L'Oreal and at a few great ad agencies, but it was business writing. He wanted more creativity, and a more personal touch. Hence the blog. Sadly, he never got to read any of them. But he also wanted me to write a book. Even gave me the title. I started writing it over ten years ago, took some time off (more about that later), and I'm excited to say I finally finished it. It's in the initial editing stages now (talk about needing thick skin) and I'm hoping to get editing finalized and to a publisher before the year is out. I hope you bear with me until then. And, for now, all I can say is, "Thanks Dad."
I'll be sharing my thoughts about things very important and also not so much, so go to the "Blogs" drop down on the upper right of the site. I'm hoping you'll find something interesting.
